The Arizona mission is a mission trip that works with the Hopi Native Americans in Polacca, AZ. The Hopi reservation is located within the great Navajo reservation. They are literally a minority within a minority. Their land is about 2,500 sq. mi. with a population of about 6,946 and the average household income is $4,000/yr.
The lead pastor/missionary there is Rev. Taeil Lim who has been serving the Hopi people since 2009. Our ACC team was the first team that Rev. Lim worked with back in 2009 and we have continued to serve alongside him. Our main ministries in Hopiland are Vacation Bible School (VBS) and manual labor. There are many children in Hopiland and our vision is to see the Hopi children come to know Christ as Lord and Savior.
Many of them have been ingrained with their cultural religion, but our hope is that through VBS and showing love to the children there, they would come to know and accept Jesus Christ. Our 2nd ministry there is manual labor. Rev. Lim came to the reservation and saw that there was not much color or life in the area which he believes is also the spiritual state of the people there. So one of his main goals was to bring life into this dry and barren land by planting colorful flowers, trees, making gardens, and installing an irrigation stream. Our job there is to maintain the beauty of what he has started and continue to add color and life by working on the fields. His hope is that as people pass by, they may know that this is not a dry and barren land, but there life in Hopiland.
The ministry there has so much potential and we hope that the members of ACC can continue to help support Rev. Lim with doing Kingdom work in Hopiland.
